The EggTimer Application (version 2.2)
What is EggTimer?
-----------------
EggTimer is a simple, but elegant application that allows a user to set several short-term reminders. You can use it so that you don't lose track of time infront of the computer. You can also set repeatable reminders that emit a sound and/or display an alert panel at a regular time interval.
Example use of EggTimer
------------------------
In addition to the regular countdown uses and absolute time reminders, you can use EggTimer to set a series of reminders for an experiment or a workout. To do so, create several reminders using Absolute time (05:00:00, 05:00:15, 05:00:40), turn the sound on, but turn the panel off. This way, the reminders will not need you to click ok once they are due. This is similar to those electric tooth brushes that beep every 15 seconds to remind you to switch to another side. A simpler method is to set a repeating reminder that uses Relative time.
Supported Platforms
-------------------
EggTimer is OpenStep compliant. Thus, it should compile and run on Apple's Rhapsody. However, since I don't have access to Rhapsody (yet). I provide the source code and usually ask the OPENSTEP/Rhapsody community to compile EggTimer for Rhapsody and send me back the binaries. Binaries are also available for OPENSTEP MACH (NeXT, Sun, Intel) and OPENSTEP for Windows NT/95.
Where can I find EggTimer
-------------------------
EggTimer can be found on the PEAK archive or at my web site http://libra.ap.buffalo.edu/www/Software/ but beware, if I move out of Buffalo, the server will be obsolete, so check the regular archives first (under clocks).
Please send me e-mail to let me know you are using EggTimer and how I can improve it.
