With the purchase of Lighthouse Design, Ltd. by Sun and Sun's subsequent emphasis on Java, Lighthouse's NEXTSTEP apps languished uncared for but not forgotten. When Lighthouse decided to "end of life" the applications in the summer of 1997, the company generously released 2-user license strings for most applications it owns: AirMail, Concurrence, Converter Installer, Diagram, Equation Builder, Filter Servicer, OmniPDF, OpenWrite, ParaSheet, Quantrix, TaskMaster, VarioData, and WetPaint, but not for FrameMaker, JavaPlan, or OmniWeb. It did so as a service to the shrinking NeXT community.
Due to concern over licensing issues with an Asian distributor, Lighthouse later removed the license strings from its web site. However, the applications remained available via ftp and the license strings circulated within the NeXT community.
The Lighthouse ftp site was taken down a few weeks ago, and so, although the binaries are available from the Peak NeXT ftp site, I've included them here for your convenience (222MB total, compressed). The applications will run in demo mode if you do not have the appropriate license strings, but you can obtain them from http://www.peak.org/next/apps/LighthouseDesign/ or from www.skylee.com/BGCD.html.
Note that Lighthouse forbids use of the license strings by users in Asia. There is nothing in the software itself that prevents its licensing within Asia, and it is unlikely that the Asian distributor's contract with Lighthouse will remain in force forever. I will post what I learn about this situation to www.skylee.com/BGCD.html.
