-
- If your using Win95 to connect to the Internet, you have it easy. QDM
- is always setup to allow for Internet play under Win95. Everything
- should function provided the dial-up networking option in Win95 works.
-
- If you have problems with your dial-up networking, please contact your
- ISP for help.

- │B&W TCP/IP Users│
- └────────────────┘
-
- First off, let me say that the package QUAKEPPP.ZIP by Paul Benter
- contains pirate software. B&W TCP/IP is not shareware and according to
- their company it has never been. If your using this package, you
- should delete it.
-
- If you do have a legal copy of B&W and wish to use it over the net,
- here is what you need to do.
-
- The only portions of B&W TCP/IP QDMPPP needs are the 2 .SYS files you
- load in your CONFIG.SYS. Both ETHDEV.SYS and TCPIP.SYS (and ONLY those
- 2 files from B&W) need to be loaded in your CONFIG.SYS file. Refer to
- your B&W manual for information on how to setup these files.
-
- Once B&W is setup correctly, you need to install QDM (or if QDM is
- already installed, re-install it). In this installation you will need
- 2 very important pieces of information.
-
- 1) You need the numeric IP address of your DNS server (Domain/Name
- Server). You should have already obtained this while setting up
- B&W.
-
- 2) You will need the local access # to your ISP.
-
- The Install program will ask you for this information, and then setup
- the KLOS dialer to connect you. I choose the KLOS driver because it's
- the easiest to use. It is shareware, and if you use it for more than a
- few days, please register it.
-
- Once you enter this information and install QDM, you will be ready to
- go. QDM takes care of setting up WATTCP.CFG and NET.CFG for you.
- There is nothing more you need to do.
-
- Once everything is installed, you will need to connect to the Internet
- by running the file "QDMPPP.BAT" in your quake directory. This file
- will connect to the Internet and setup EVERYTHING you need from the
- information QDM needs, to the information the IRC client needs. IT IS
- IMPORTANT THAT YOU RUN QDMPPP.BAT INSTEAD OF OTHER STARTUP FILES.
-
- ┌──────────────────────────────┐
- │Connecting to a Server Tracker│
- └──────────────────────────────┘
- Before you use QDM to play over the net, you must connect to a pre-
- defined Quake Server Tracker and receive the latest list of Quake
- Servers.
-
- If you running QDM under DOS (using B&W) this will automatically happen
- when QDM loads up. If your running under Win95, then you will need to
- click on the UPDATE button and have QDM look for you.
-
- Once connected, QDM will download all the latest servers and
- temporarily add them to your database.
