  6. DOS games are in directory named "dos". Every game have own directory.
  7. If you do not know any of these games, we suggest to try Doom, Raptor
  8. or Wolfenstein games. For experienced users there is some extra fun in 
  9. Doom directory.  Several programs or add-ons must be copyed to hard drive
  10. to make those work.
  11.  
  12. Windows games are in directory named "win".
  13. Most games can be run directly with "File: Run" command or double click 
  14. from File Manager. Look for Readme's.
  15.  
  16. In root directory you find MicroProse demos: Bloodnet, Civilization, 
  17. Task Force 1942, Pirates! Gold, Fleet Defender, NFL CC Football and 
  18. 10 other games. Use Install command in CD-ROM root directory to install 
  19. demos. Look MicroProse Demos Readme later in this file for more information.
  20. These are NOT fully working games. Buy original retail versions!

  22. On this CD-ROM you find also some updates for certain games that are
  23. not on this CD-ROM. We hope that you might have some use for those.
  24. Non experienced use of those updates is not recommended!

  33. MicroProse Demos Readme
  34.  
  35. The Task Force: 1942 demo requires a large amount of memory to run
  36. (about 600,000 bytes with sound and music, 25K less without sound or
  37. music).  If the MicroProse logo displays and you're then shown the
  38. demo selection screen, you don't have enough free core memory to view
  39. the demo.
  40.  
  41. There is a known compatibility problem with the Return of the Phantom
  42. demo that was corrected before the game was released.  This problem
  43. may cause some systems to reboot when you attempt to run the demo.
  44. You can attempt to resolve this problem by copying the entire Phantom
  45. demo onto your hard drive (it's in the \DEMOS\PHANTOM directory on
  46. the CD), then run the demo from there (be sure to run Phantom's
  47. INSTALL program to configure sound and music first).  We apologize
  48. for any inconvenience this problem may cause.

  50. To copy the Phantom demo onto your hard drive, follow these steps
  51. (Type the commands inside the parentheses but don't type the
  52. parentheses):
  53.  
  54.     1.  From the C:\ prompt, type (MD PHANTOM) then press enter to
  55.     create a new directory.  (Don't type the parentheses.)
  56.     2.  Go to the new directory by typing (CD PHANTOM)
  57.     3.  Copy the files from the CD to the hard drive by typing
  58.     (COPY D:\DEMOS\PHANTOM\*.*).  If your CD-ROM drive letter is
  59.     something other than drive D, replace the D: with the drive
  60.     letter of your CD-ROM.
  61.     4.  Type (INSTALL) to setup sounds.
  62.     5.  Type (PHANTOM) to view the demo.
  63.  
  64. If you experience problems with any of the other demos, you can try
  65. to resolve the problem by copying the demo that you're having
  66. difficulties with onto your hard drive.  The process is similar to
  67. the process given above for Phantom.

  69. Some of the demos require configuration information before they can
  70. be run.  You will be promted for the information before you run the
  71. demo.

  73. The Anicient Art of War demo is non-interactive.  You should not hit
  74. any keys during the demo play (except ESC to return to the selection
  75. menu, and SPACE to advance past the introduction screens).

  77. If you want to view this readme file in the future, type README at
  78. the DOS prompt from the root directory on the CD-ROM drive.
