  5. What is CataGod?
  6. ----------------

  8. CataGod is a utility program for players of "The Catacomb Abyss 3-D" (TM)
  9. by Gamer's Edge.  It allows you to edit a saved-game file to give yourself
  10. more curing portions, zappers, and xterminators, and also all keys, scrolls
  11. and magic gems.

  14. Installing CataGod
  15. ------------------

  17. Copy CATAGOD.EXE to the subdirectory where you installed the rest of the
  18. files for "The Catacomb Abyss".  If you want a fast way to make an all-
  19. powerful character, also copy MAKEGOD.BAT, too.
  20.

  22. Using CataGod
  23. -------------

  25. To use CataGod, you first play "The Catacomb Abyss" and save a game before
  26. exiting back to DOS.  Remember the name you called this game because you
  27. need it to run CataGod.  Once you have saved a game, type:

  31. at the DOS prompt to see a list of all the options that are available to you.
  32. Follow the instructions and you should have no trouble editing your saved
  33. game.

  36. CataGod Examples
  37. ----------------

  39. A good place to start is to give your character full health and more curing
  40. potions.  Let's say you saved a game with the name "john".  To give yourself
  41. full health and, say, 50 curing potions, type:
  42.  
  43. catagod john /h100 /c50
  44.  
  45. To give yourself 85 Zappers, 90 Xterminators and the Purple Gem, type:
  46.  
  47. catagod john /z85 /x90 /gp
  48.  
  49. That's all there is to it!  Type "catagod" by itself to get a list of all
  50. the available options and experiment for yourself!  Remember to make a
  51. backup of a .SAV saved game before running CataGod so you can go back to
  52. it later if you want to.

  55. MakeGod.BAT
  56. -----------

  58. I have also included a small batch file called MAKEGOD.BAT that will easily
  59. set all values to their MAXIMUM settings.  Following the examples above,
  60. simply type:

  63.  
  64. and you will be very difficult to defeat!

  67. Notes
  68. -----

  70. I have only tried this on the first of the three-part series of Catacomb 3-D
  71. adventures, but please try it on "The Catacomb Armageddon" and "The Catacomb
  72. Apocolypse" as well.  It will probably work on these saved game files as well,
  73. but backup your files first before testing just in case.

  76. Registering CataGod
  77. -------------------

  79. Print out the file ORDER.FRM to get a quick order form for registering CataGod.
  80. If you register, you will receive the latest version of CataGod and the
  81. Borland C++ source code used to make it.  The cost of the diskette and the
  82. mailing charges are all included in the $5 registration fee.  If you find
  83. CataGod useful, upload it to other bulletin boards so other players can
  84. have an easier time exploring the Catacombs!
