Not a bad idea--analyzing the cost/benefit of old machines. We've got an old
785 in our cluster. A couple of years ago we:
o took it off maintenance (when it dies it dies and we'll tape a gold watch to
it before we wheel it out)
o turned it off in the summer
Floorspace is not a problem here. We could shut down one of our 2 AC in the summer and the 785 cut down on heat in the winter :-) The 'loss' of 1.5 vups doesn't kill anyone in the summer. The addition of 1.5 vups during the year was a nice luxury for system maintenance type things.
