  23.  Thank you in advance for any help. Now onto the question ---

  25.   We are looking for an economical way to exchange data between a DEC
  26. VAX 4000 and an IBM AS/400.  The connectivity solutions we have seen 
  27. are all very expensive, complex, and large.  We want something like a
  28. standard serial line (RS-232) connection between the 2 machines.  Then
  29. all we would need is simple software to write back and forth across the
  30. link. We don't need terminal emulation, remote batch submission, file
  31. transfer, or any other 'high level' functions.  All we need is simple
  32. record level send/receive functionality.  We would not  mind writing
  33. this software or if something simple and inexpensive was available, we
  34. would not mind purchasing software.  Our purchase budget on this is a
  35. few thousand dollars maximum.  We have never made this kind of connection
  36. and we are looking for any help or advice on solving this problem.
