- Overreacting a bit, aren't you, D'arcy?
-
- I agree that the software can and should be fixed to some extent, but
- I'd humbly suggest that CRS isn't nearly as bad as A) most universities,
- or B) FidoNet or C) some public access sites.
-
- CRS is relatively expensive for a BBS, and *most* of its members who
- post to usenet are relatively mature, and relatively knowledgeable. In
- part, this is *because* the software is not Usenet oriented. From CRS,
- it takes a bit of patience to figure out how to post to usenet. This
- helps cut down the noise somewhat.
-
- Like any other site, CRS has users who will misuse the net either
- through ignorance or arrogance, but I've seen much worse spewed out of
- various universities, and FidoNet, and other public access sites.
- Demanding that uunet stop accepting either CRS' money (unlikely) or
- their traffic (not much more likely) is less productive than sending
- mail to the offending person, or to CRS if it is their problem.
-
- For what it's worth, I've forwarded a copy of your message to the owner
- of CRS, with the recomendation that he look into adding crossposting
- capability to the gateway software, and that he remind new and existing
- users of appropriate netiquette and use guidelines.
-
- Hopefully, something positive will come of this.
