- I agree with you about local rates going up, but as for Bell being quick and
- courteous, that's something that I've never seen in all my dealings with
- them - at least not the staff at the office. My boyfriend and I run a four
- line computers system out of our apartment, which is in no way a commercial
- enterprise. The office staff gave us such a hassle about getting these lines
- installed it was ridiculous. Then they didn't work. It took them about four
- tries to even _attempt_ to fix the lines, and still we're having problems.
- It's mostly because of Bell's tardiness in rewiring this old building,
- something the Bell technicians tell me is desperately needed. We had these
- lines installed in May, and we're still having problems. We have problems with
- line noise, so what do they tell us to do? Get "data" lines. As if we can
- afford to pay for them as a non commercial system.
- Even when I had a second phone line back when I lived with my parents still,
- I had problems with Bell. I complained about really bad noise on the line
- (audible when using the line voice), that would sometimes drown out the
- conversation that I was having, and they said "Well, we'll fix it in a couple
- of months, when we dig up the lines in your area." So I cut my service with
- them, why pay for a line that wasn't functional?
- I did find the technicians seem to side more with the consumer than with
- their company, and from what I've seen of the muddlings that go on at Bell
- office, I don't blame them one bit.
