- I look up and stare into a bright overhead lamp for a moment before
- turning to the doctor currently performing surgery.
- "Doctor?"
- "Hang on, I'm a bit busy. Can you hold this? No, this. Good, now hold
- that tight".
- A moment passes. "Doctor?"
- "Hmm? What can I do for you?"
- "Well, I can't feel anything, which is fine. You know, no pain and all.
- But I find it a little discomforting to actually watch you operate on me. I
- mean, I really shouldn't be able to see my intestines and all, should I?"
- "So, you don't want to see what I'm doing? Sponge".
- "No, not really".
- "Ok, no problem. Nurse?"
- "Yes, doctor?"
- "Hit the lights, would you?"
- "Yes doctor". Click.
- Feeling much better, I lie back and begin to let my mind wander.
- "Damn. Nurse, see if you can find this man's spleen, I can't see a damned
- thing in here".
