- The referendum was on a law the State legislature had passed for the
- purpose of preserving (most of) Roe v. Wade in Maryland in case the
- Supreme Court overturned Roe. The pro-life people petitioned to have
- the law placed on the ballot. A "yes" vote on the ballot question was
- a vote in favor of the law the legislature had recently passed.

- My understanding of the Maryland constitution is that any bill can be
- referred to the voters by petition *except* a revenue bill.
