- I think that laws protect the interests of society. Laws against
- killing people are clearly in the interest of everyone. Laws
- prohibiting theft and assault are also clearly in the interest of
- everyone, as are laws protecting individual liberty. A fetus, when
- carried unwillingly, is committed both theft and assualt on the
- mother. Preventing her from removing the fetus is denying her
- liberties enjoyed by all other people. In a society that values equal
- rights very highly, having one group so disadvantaged is gravely
- problematic.
