  21. So much for that authoritative work.  Jenkins was sounding the
  22. newly-discovered ionosphere I believe, and got some anomalously
  23. long-delayed echoes.  Nuch later someone fitted the frequency-
  24. delay plot to a map of some nearby stars, but I don't think
  25. there was ever a connection with Mars.  I don't know that his
  26. equipment was directional enough, or the frequencies high enough,
  27. to have done so anyway.  Odds are it was the magnetosphere.  ;-)
