- Can't say for sure. My grandfather, Melvin DeForest, knew -- when I was a
- kid, I remember talking to him and my father about it, when visiting him.
- From that conversation, I seem to remember that he was my grandfather's
- uncle or cousin or something. But I was only a little tyke then, and
- Melvin passed away before I got a chance to ask him again. One of these
- days I'll look it up. Shouldn't be hard; I bet the DeForest museum at
- Foothill college (near here) has the whole family tree, and there aren't
- very many of us.
-
- It was pretty stunning to walk through Palo Alto and stumble upon the Lee
- DeForest plaque on Emerson St., about two blocks from my house -- I knew
- his lab had been in this area, but didn't realize I was practically on it.
