- ***** PRELIMINARY NOTICE OF MEETING *****
-
- DIGITAL NETWORKS AND COMMUNICATIONS IN NUCLEAR MEDICINE
-
- Location: The Mitchener Institute, 222 St Patrick St, Toronto,
- Ontario, Canada
-
- Dates: Friday 4th June and Saturday 5th June, 1993 (immediately
- prior to the Society of Nuclear Medicine 40th Annual
- Meeting) [NB: The SNM meeting starts with Categorical
- Seminars on Monday, 7th June. Committee meetings are
- scheduled for Sunday, 6th June]
-
- Description: This two-day seminar will cover the problems and
- costs associated with the introduction of PACS and
- networks to nuclear medicine departments. The
- lecturers will be individuals who have had recent
- experience in this area in both nuclear medicine
- departments and other associated hospital
- departments. The course will be of particular
- interest to physicists, computer engineers and
- technologists who will be participating in the
- introduction of networking to their department.
- Emphasis will be placed upon practical solutions to
- outstanding problems rather than academic
- discussion of the subject matter. Engineering
- staff from major nuclear medicine computer vendors
- will be encouraged to be present in order to
- facilitate direct communication between users and
- designers. Time will be allotted to breakout
- sessions devoted to specific topics.
-
- Objectives: On completion of this course the attendee should
- have a good grounding in the fundamental principles
- of computer networks. He/she should be able to
- define their department's needs and outline
- possible cost effective solutions. He/she should
- be able to discuss those needs with industry
- representatives so that a suitable pathway to
- successful installation of a network can be
- established. The attendee should be able to
- recognize the sources of possible problems and know
- where to find solutions to outstanding questions.
