  15. I have to apologize for the incorrect citatation. In my carelessness,
  16. I forgot that rheumatism is the name of a symptom and not the name of
  17. a disease. Thus fibromyalgia is a rheumatic condition, but not a
  18. condition caused by rheumatoid arthritis. Although you may find it
  19. hard to believe, I try not to make exagerated claims and feel worse
  20. than you do when I make a mistake. Happily, Peter made good my error
  21. by providing the correct citation.

  23. The standard for homeopathic practice is found in Hahnemann's Organon,
  24. the original text of homeopathy. Standard, or "Classical", homeopathic
  25. therapy consists of selecting the single remedy whose symptoms best
  26. match the totality of the symptoms of the patient. The remedy is
  27. usually given in the form of sugar pellets and not as a solution. The
  28. pellets have been soaked in the homeopathic dilution of the medicine.
  29. Choice of the proper remedy is an exacting skill, calling for a high
  30. degree of training, especially in the case of chronic disease. Perhaps
  31. your ex mother-in-law was not treated by a skilled homeopath.

  33. As for cures, I will make no claims in this newsgroup, except what
  34. has been established through clinical evidence. However, if I were
  35. suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, I would see a qualified homeopath
  36. first.

  38. NSAIDs are purely palliative as they neither cure nor slow down the
  39. progression of arthritis. Surgery, likewise, only treats the symptoms.
  40. However, I was not belittling your ex mother-in-law's treatment, as
  41. the control of pain and regaining of mobility in arthritis is no small
  42. thing.

  45. understand the bitterness you feel. However, I hope that these
  46. feelings don't blind you to the possibility that alternative medicine
  47. can help many people.
