  12. For the past several years, I have noticed a problem that seems to 
  13. come sporadically, for weeks or months at a time and then goes away for
  14. many months.  When it happens, here's what I experience.
  15.  
  16. I'll wake up in the middle of the night, finding one or more of my
  17. limbs are asleep.  Usually it's just one arm or one leg, but often
  18. it will be both arms or both legs.
  19.  
  20. It seems that this happens for a period of weeks or months and then
  21. doesn't happen again for many months.  I've tried to pay attention
  22. when I wake up to see if I've been laying on my arm in a funny way
  23. or sleeping in a strange position.  Although that is sometimes the
  24. case, it usually is not.  most of the time, it seems that I'm 
  25. sleeping in quite a normal position and my arms or legs just fall
  26. asleep for no apparent reason.

  28. My question is, does this happen to anyone else and is it cause
  29. for any concern?  I'm also curious as to why this wakes me up.

  31. It doesn't happen very often during the day unless I'm sitting on
  32. my leg or leaning back on my arm in an awkard position.  It's mostly
  33. a nighttime problem.
