  12. In article <1992Nov11.060527.0911180@locus.com> yazz@locus.com (Bob Yazz) writes:
  13. >So, not only was weight regained when the diet + exercise + behavior mod
  14. >stopped (duh), weight was also regained when these were continued.
  15.
  16. No, we don't know to what extent "these were continued."  These people were
  17. enrolled in a long-term study.  What they ate wasn't measured.
  18.
  19. >You know, some people might actually take a piece of data like that and
  20. >conclude that diet + exercise + behavior mod -- gasp gasp -- didn't
  21. >really work very well!
  22.
  23. Well, it's like saying that heroin abstinence has a low success rate.
  24.
  25. >OK, so both the dual-drug and placebo groups got diet + exercise + behavior
  26. >mod, both groups regained some of their initially-lost weight, but the
  27. >placebo group regained more.  How much did they regain after 4 years?
  28. >30%?  95%?  115%?
  29.
  30. Unless someone come up with it first, I'll look for the study this evening.
