  22. I have  heard  conflicting stories that 
  23. 1)  A  proof does not exist and  Fermat died leaving behind a message
  24.      "remarkable proof!"  implying that he found a simple proof.
  25. 2)  A  proof DOES exist but it is very complex.  Thus, Fermat's simple
  26.      proof either  eludes us  or  his "remarkable" proof was flawed.
