- Look into the newsgroup news.answers, there is a Linear Programming FAQ
- which contains also some information on nonlinear optimization. Apart
- from this, there is a long list of free C and C++ software for numerical /
- statistical/scientific computation which is regularly posted to
- comp.lang.c,comp.lang.c++,sci.math.num-analysis. It has pointers to
- other resources, too. This list is also stored on netlib, it's file name
- is
- c/free-c.
-
- Netlib:
- netlib@ornl.gov is a mail server useful for the US
- research.att.com (anon ftp)
- ci.cs.uow.edu.au (130.130.64.3) (anon ftp)
- lanl.gov (ornl.gov?) in pub/clamsx/MATH.SOFTWARE (anon ftp)
- netlib@unix.hensa.ac.uk is a mail server useful for UK/Europe.
-
- If you have a WAIS client, you can use the WAIS source netlib-index.src
- (it is registered at the Directory of servers) for searching netlib.
-
- Microsoft Excel 4 includes the GRG2 solver which is capable of nonlinear
- optimization.
- You can find lots of information on optimization software in a journal
- called "OR/MS today".
