  17. Thanks to all those who responded to by _brief_ questionnaire. One
  18. of the persons who had replied wanted to know the intention of the
  19. survey.

  21. Our University has a new policy that does not let students check out
  22. any journal of any kind. The copies are 10 cents each. So I thought
  23. that it was worth noting what other schools do regarding this. I feel
  24. that students should be allowed to check out journals (bounded, at the
  25. least) for a certain period of time. The complaint that the officials
  26. have is huge fines that accumulate due to late journals. Before this
  27. policy was introduced the fine was 1 cent a minute. Students appeal
  28. such huge fines and get them waived invariably. But what they do not
  29. realize is how much more damage will be caused to journals. Since this
  30. policy was introduced I have myself seen atleast 50 pages ripped off
  31. three journals. Is this new policy worth such nuisance?
