- I'm guessing by "really old" you mean tubes (or does that make

- Off-the-cuff: Change every big capacitor in sight. Slightly more
- technical: The power supply capacitors may be drying out and
- need replacement.

- If it _is_ a tube amp, and if you can still find a tube tester,
- check for shorts in the tubes.

- A servicing note: Emerson bought the Scott name a few years
- back. I doubt they can be of much help.
