  11. Does anyone know if there is a public domain (or relatively cheap) software
  12. package (for a PC) that aids in the design of filters?

  14. Something that allows the plotting of characteristic functions and attenuation
  15. plots, as well as filter optimization and the such.  Also, being able to 
  16. specify the passbands/stopbands, and the filter order and having the program
  17. find a best approximation of the system would be a great asset.
