  18. You are most likely right--Santillana's book is about Galileo,
  19. and the Church's suspiscions having been aroused by one (only 1!)
  20. known incident of correspondence between him and Kepler. If you
  21. have a definitive reference to the incidents involving Kepler's mother,
  22. please post! I've never been able to get all the details on that.

  24. By the way, anyone with the full Campanella story is also asked to
  25. post references. Both Santillana on Galileo and the book I read on Bruno
  26. give only sideline comments to the effect of what I said in my post.
  27. I'd like more on that. Relevance to sci.astro? Just important historical
  28. light on the relations between established religious authority and an
  29. emerging science.
