- If it is the 2.5 mile course that I ran when I was in high school (Huge
- Eastern Invitational) then it is not for the average runner. It starts off
- on a baseball field complex. In our race, we crammed 35 teams of 7 runners
- onto the starting line and within about 500 meters, we had to all converge
- on a trail about 15 feet wide. This trail weaves up and down hills, which
- are steep in both directions. The thing I remember most was that every 40
- feet or so the ground was raised up in what looked like a speed-bump made
- of dirt. Sometimes these would be placed just at the top of a little hill
- so that when you came off the top you actually remained in the air for
- several seconds (scary).
-
- I can say that it was a fun course to run and it was very fast. Two of our
- top runners finished in just over 13 minutes (1987). My reccomendation is
- to run the race, but be VERY careful. You can mess yourself up pretty bad
- if you don't concentrate VERY hard on your footing. The best reason I can
- think of for running the race is because the course is so radically
- different from the standard road race or even most X-C races I've run.
- This is of course if the the course is set up the same way. I can't see
- how they would have it in Van Cortland park without going over the same
- ground that we did.

- I'd be glad to answer specific questions about
- the course if you have any (I am having glory
- day flashbacks now).
