- Hello. I've inherited a construction project for three large scale model
- rockets, which I'm building scratch. I've got most of the project figured
- out, but I have to make a total of 12 scale rocket motors, the base of
- which is about 3 inches across.
-
- My idea was to machine out a plug and make some sort of mold with it for
- mass casting of the actual motor bodies.
-
- My problem? I'm virtually ignorant about modern molding and casting
- materials. The last time I did anything like this I was using plaster of
- paris in a clay mold. That was about 25 years ago, so I suspect there are
- much better materials available for the processes now.
-
- Can anyone out there help me out with some information about such
- techniques? I'd be mighty grateful for addresses of suppliers for the same
- too. Just email me at the address below or post to this group.
-
- Thank you in advance.
-
- Regards,
-
