  17. I've been to Europe three times and have never had a problem getting a
  18. reasonably-priced automatic. While the smallest econoboxes (ie, Metros,
  19. Fiestas, Polos) are hard to come by in automatics, the next step up
  20. (Escorts, Grenadas) is no problem at all. I've never had to pay more than 150
  21. pounds per week, unlimited mileage.

  25. the transition to shifting with their left hand.)

  31. That doesn't apply just to rentals. Automatics are always an
  32. extra-expense option, except on the larger "luxury" boats.
  33. There's no question that an automatic is more expensive, more
  34. complex mechanically, and often impractical on the very smallest
  35. cars.  That's a tradeoff some of us can live with. It's a tradeoff every
  36. Macintosh owner has made. (oops, sorry, wrong flame-war :-)

  38. I also am forced to fly airlines, pay their fares and change my
  39. schedules to suit theirs, because I don't have a pilot's license.
  40. Another tradeoff. People make many such tradeoffs each day.
