- Consider a few facts about American Honda Motor Co.; it is traded on the New
- York Stock Exchange (HMC); several models of cars and motorcycles are built
- only in the U.S. According to Motorcycle Industry magazine during one recent
- year (1990 or 1991) the Honda Goldwing had a greater percentage of American
- made parts than a Harley-Davidson motorcycle (I believe it was 78% vs. 71%).
- Some of the corporate profits return to Japan but the company continues to
- make substantial investments in the U.S.
- In my involvement in motorcycle safety during the past four years I've
- seen more support from Honda than from the combined efforts of BMW, Harley-
- Davidson, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha.
- Any company that has publicly traded stock can have stock holders (i.e.,
- owners) outside the U.S. When other companies take jobs out of the U.S. it is
- kind of a relief that companies like Honda bring jobs to the U.S. IMHO Honda
- is already more 'American' than some companies that claim to be 'American'.
