- I have a 1983 Pontiac 2000 SE that started running very rough and idling at
- about 4,500 RMP (Normally at 10-11,000 RMP). I recently had to be towed to get
- a new timing belt-I had ripped all the teeth of of mine! The mechanic (who has
- done QUALITY work for me at a very fair price) mentioned that it was running
- rough and that I should get it back in. My (soon-to-be) Father-in-law said
- that his van did the same thing and it ended up being the 'HEAD GASKET.' I
- have replaced the 'Valve Cover Gasket' but haven't had to mess with the other.
-
- Also, I have never had much of a problem running for 3K miles on Five quarts of
- oil, but at about 2K I had NO oil on the dipstick.
-
- Do these signs indicate the Head Gasket??? Please email me to let me know what
- you know!!!
