  15. The magazine for the mobility hacker

  17. Those of us interested in the high technology end of automotive and other 
  18. high performance face a real problem. There is almost no really
  19. technical information  available to us. There are the traditional hotrod  
  20. magazines which treat something as esoteric as fuel injection as voodoo magic 
  21. or worse, "Gee-Whiz, look what YOU can bolt on".  There is the SAE where 
  22. _Automotive Engineering_ publishes just enough information to whet the
  23. appetite and excellent SAE standards, the purchase of which requires the
  24. budget of many third world countries.

  26. I've decided to do something about it.  "Something" is "Performance 
  27. Engineering", a magazine dedicated to the engineering side of 
  28. high performance.
  29.  
  30. This magazine is chartered to provide the same depth of
  31. technical and  engineering information  to the mobility field
  32. (which includes practically anything that moves) as magazines
  33. such as _Byte_ or _Circuit Cellar InK_ do for computers. There
  34. is a mix of theoretical and practical how-to articles, all
  35. aimed at the individual enthusiast and the current and potential
  36. small businessmen.  The publication is subscription and
  37. advertiser supported.  Authors are paid a rate commensurate
  38. with other  publications of similar circulation.  Theoretical
  39. and/or articles that involve the design process are peer-
  40. reviewed for accuracy.

  64. purchased.  This is not new; _Circuit Cellar Ink_ does it but
  65. mine are a bit more reasonably priced. ($350 for an 8051 SBC indeed!) 
  66. Wouldn't it be nice to buy fuel injectors, MAP sensors, MAF sensors
  67. and the like complete with mating connectors and data sheets at
  68. reasonable prices? Thought so.
