- There are also manuals that tell you how to do this yourself, given a
- little curiosity and motivation. However, note that on some cars
- "Service Engine Soon" simply means that your odometer has reached a
- point at which maintenance is scheduled (e.g., 30K and 60K miles). If
- this is the case, the dealer will perform whatever maintenance is
- scheduled for your car and mileage, and flip a switch to shut off the
- light until the next scheduled maintenance point.

- I'm not familiar enough with "electronic cars" to tell whether an
- indicator of this sort would stay off until the engine warms up, etc.,
- so take this advice with a grain of salt, and take your car to the
- dealer and ask lots of questions, so next time you'll know what that
- light is trying to tell you.
