- A recent article in Fortune should be of interest to everyone following this
- thread and the 'GM sickness' thread. It covers the Big Three's mysterious
- and generally counterproductive behavior through the 80s and tries to
- explain how the companies are where they are today and where they might be
- going. The article goes into some detail about the reorganization of GM under
- Roger Smith and gives one a good idea of just what those trying to reorganize
- and reform GM are up against. I really don't envy those guys. The article
- also explains why Chrysler is in such desperate straits today, despite having
- created and sown up much of the minivan market. I didn't have time to finish
- it at the library, but it was very interesting reading.
