  28. Depends on whether you are serious about getting into LD.  I bought a combo
  29. player and sold my CD player even though the CD player sounded substantiall
  30. better than the LD player because I wanted to get into LD and I couldn't
  31. give a stuff about the sound of CDs since I don't buy the things all that
  32. often anyway.

  34. Sound quality is good from the LD player, but it basically sounds like a CD
  35. player for half the price.  On the other hand there is the option to use an
  36. external DAC with it and many people consider LD transports to sound better
  37. than CD only transports, plus LD players should be more durable when
  38. playing CDs because they are designed to use heavier LDs.

  40. Once you get into LD though you are really likely to get hooked, I know I
  41. am.
