  13. I've been using nn for a long time now on Apollo workstations, and
  14. now I have to get it running on an HP 720 running HP-UX 8.07.
  15. Here's what I have already done.
  16.  
  17. 1. copied my nn source tree from the Apollo system to the HP720.
  18.  
  19. 2. compiled nn with gcc (2.3.1), (I don't have the HP developers kit) having
  20.    configured nn with m-hp9000.h and a modified s-hpux7-0.h
  21.     The modifications were:
  22.     #undef USE_TERMINFO
  23.     #define USE_TERMCAP
  24.     comment out the #define EXTRA_LIB -lBSD
  25.  
  26.    Everything seems to build OK
  27.    (I also built the mini-inews in inews/ )
  28.  
  29. 3. I then ran ./inst (as SU) and installed everything.
  30.  
  31. 4. I tried to INIT the database but instead I get the error:

  33.     /usr/local/lib/nn/nnmaster invoked with wrong user privileges
  34.  
  35. 5. I then ran the nnmaster from the source directory (i.e. not SUID/SGID)
  36.    to init the database, and it worked!
  37.  
  38. 6. I cannot run the SUID/SGID nnmaster to actually collect the database info;
  39.    same error as above.
  40.  
  41. Does anyone know of the appropriate incantations to get this working on the
  42. HP 720 under HP-UX??
