- well i suppose a liberal might be able to say that all of these "handouts"
- are like bandages over a populice that gets victimized by the weathy few,
- who run this mega-corporate economy with no regard for anything but making
- a buck. they see the Republican conservative elite as well-heeled rich
- folks who are not about to give up the way they made their millions - even
- if the means were immoral. that liberal might go on to say that IF these
- government programs were allowed to run without sabotage by heavy lobbyists
- and white-collar crime permissiveness, that some day they wouldnt be
- necessary and what a wonderful world it would be, o-bla-dee.
-
- indeed, there are some who think the US government is strong enough to
- defeat the amoral juggernaut of Big Business.
-
- then there are some who feel that being President of the U.S. is nothing
- more than being Chief Towelboy in a major-league Whorehouse.
-
- not all of a set has the same characteristic, but the notion that a
- minimal government, aside from being cute, would end all the troubles
- is naive. industrial giants unregulated would be a huge disaster -
- they would dump all their shit on all of us and we'd have to clean it
- up. this already happens bigtime. but the US government may not be
- strong enough to cope with Them.
-
- oh yes, how nice it would be if you could just sit on your back porch
- with a miniscule government, minimal set of laws, free to do anything.
-
- its population, man. that's the way we get into all these problems.
- it aint the Democrats. it aint the Republicans.
