-
- 1) The IPC is physically different than the SS2, no board swap is available
- that'll fit in its cabinet.
-
- 2) There are no upgrades to the SPARC Classic, only to the SPARCstation LX
- the one with GXplus graphics on the motherboard and built-in ISDN. Note
- that the Classic is *NON-DISCOUNTABLE*, while the LX is category A
- discountable and at some university discounts an LX w/424MB HD is *LESS*
- than a Classic with the same monitor and a 207MB HD.
-
- 3) I haven't seen pricing yet, but the SS-IPX is supposedly still available
- but at a lower price. This may make the board swap upgrade from IPC->IPX
- a little more attractive, although it wouldn't have GXplus and ISDN. *BUT*
- the IPC is also upgradeable to a SPARCstation LX for $5,995 list, category
- A discountable. This upgrade includes a 424MB HD and the external speaker
- box. You ship back the IPC chassis with its 8MB RAM and 207MB HD.
