- there are a number of threads ongoing in the different misc.forsale
- groups about commercial vs. private postings. the above,
- (and the preceding 7 or 8 similar messages which i
- ignored until i finally had seen enough) is a perfect
- example of the kind of thing that gets people annoyed about
- commerical posting.
-
- i have no doubt that Mr. Johnson is running a business when he uses
- terms like "i carry x and y". his responding to virtually every recent
- "wanted" post with an answer is indicative of the abuse most readers
- would like to avoid.
-
- Mr. Johnson, i have no problem with you running your business,
- but this is not the way to do it. your postings are nothing more
- than blatant commercial advertising that thousands of *other*
- people have to pay for. and before everyone flames me, imagine
- if 100 other Mr. Johnsons got the same idea! would you want to wade
- through thousands of news postings every week to find the poor slob trying
- to actually sell something on his own?
-
- if you are going to continue this under the guise of responding
- to people's "wanted" ads, at least respond privately, don't
- flood everyone's readers with them. and if you can't do that,
- put your advertising in ONE post so we can kill them more efficiently.
-
- if we want to buy the Computer Shopper or PC Sources, we know where
- the magazine stand is.
