- I can speak only for NW Arkansas, which is where I live. Here in
- Fayetteville (Washington Co.), we have Central EMS, which covers the whole
- County except for Springdale, Tontitown, and Goshen. The service is a 24h/day
- ALS level service that has been in operation since ~1980. As I understand it,
- units are staffed with one EMT-P and one EMT-A (might be 2 Ps though). They
- provide interhospital service as well. Springdale FD EMS, also a 24h/day ALS
- level service, serves the towns I mentioned above. AirEvac Services has a
- helicopter based at Springdale Memorial Hospital that has been kept quite busy
- since it's inception in 1991.
- Benton County (home of Wal-Mart and JB Hunt) is served by ALS-level FD
- based services in Rogers, Bentonville, and Siloam Springs. The rest of the
- County is served by Benton Co. Volunteer Ambulance Service or NE Benton Co.
- VFD's EMS, both of which are BLS.
- Both Counties have E9-1-1, as do Sebastian and Pulaski (and probably
- others). Little Rock (Pulaski Co.) is served by Metro EMS (MEMS), an ALS
- service that is (or was) based on the "Public Utility Model" (cf. jems, any
- issue from the early to mid '80s). There is another MedEvac at LR Children's
- that (I think) is shared with Baptist Med Center.
