- Hi!!!!!
-
- I would like to address the issue of the large number of short, personal
- messages that have suddenly been proliferating this list/ newsgroup/ echo/
- conference, or whatever else in manifests itself as.
-
- PLEASE STOP!!!!!
-
- There are a lot of us that don't have enough time to sort through 60-70
- messages/ day when only about half contain any useful discussion or information.
- We don't particularly care who knows who else in someone or other's
- organization. These messages belong in personal e-mail. They do not belong
- on the list being distributed all over the world.
-
- I notice a lot of these are coming from FidoNet. I don't know why, but you
- guys should be a little more considerate. Please realize that these messages
- come through with about 20 lines of header and 3 lines of text, and get
- distributed throughout the world. This wastes resources, and net resources are
- not inexhaustable. Here's a hint: If you start the message with a person's
- name it could probably be sent through e-mail. Also, think about the person
- 12,000 miles away reading the list: will they know what you're talking about
- or care? If not, send it e-mail.
-
- Ahem,
- thank you for listening to my gripes.
- Annoyed in ithaca....
- Justin
