- TJ>I have something negatve to say about the strobe activated traffic
- lights.
- TJ>If
- TJ>an average guy is driving down the road and he sees the light turn
- green, he
- TJ>will not expect that light to turn red in 5 seconds. So he will not
- be
- TJ>looking, even if you Amb. changes the light. AT an intersection if
- the same
- TJ>driver has his window closed and normal car noise like light music
- your
- TJ>siren
- TJ>range is as follows....
- In rare situations this does occur, but as a paramedic working in an
- area where a dozen ALS dispatches in a 12 hour shift is rotine, I have
- found the system to have great positive advantages. Yes you must watch
- for drivers not paying attention, but during the summer season traffic
- regularly becomes so heavy that you can't even get to the intersection
- to cross. The traffic light pre-emption system allows us to get the
- traffic moving so that we can get to where we need to be.
