  26. I purchased a Kirby in 1974, and paid about $Cdn 800.00. The machine worked
  27. well, but I'd never buy another one.

  29. The Kirby was very powerful, and the companion to the power was noise - you
  30. couldn't hear yourself think when it was running. The only real problem I
  31. had with it was that it eventually began throwing belts, and my wife and I
  32. finally got tired of replacing them (monthly) and flogged the machine.

  34. If I were to buy another, I'd buy it _used_, but I think I'd go for a used
  35. Rainbow first - they are available widely in my area for $Cdn 300-400.
