- On "60 Minutes" a few weeks ago, Andy Rooney did a commentary on
- Encyclopedia Britannica salesmen. His complaint was that they
- insist on making you listen to their entire sales pitch before giving
- you any hint at what the price is. He told one salesman in his home,
- "if the next word you speak is not the price, then get out." Needless
- to say, the salesman rambled on, and Andy Rooney through him out of
- his house.
-
- Anyway, what is the price, and why are Encyclopedia Britannica salesman
- so reluctant to tell you, even to the point of being obnoxious?
-
- When I shop for merchandize, I prefer to ask the questions and
- control the dialog. Any salesperson who won't comply is going to
- have to find himself another customer.
