  21.  An Australian parliamentary committee says Australia needs
  22. stronger laws to protect Antarctica. The House of Representatives'
  23. Legal Committee says the biggest needs are for controls on tourism
  24. and laws for environmental protection.

  26. After a two-year inquiry, the committee has called for laws to
  27. control tourist ships and to combat environmental damage in the 40%
  28. of Antarctica claimed by Australia.

  30. The committee chairman says Australian laws should apply to foreign
