  26. Honegger, formerly a key Reagan/Bush '80 campaign worker; former 
  27. Iranian President Bani-Sadr; Former contra Eden Pastora; Former contra 
  28. directorate member Edgar Chamorro; Peter Dale Scott, co-author of _The 
  29. Iran-Contra Connection. Secret Teams and Covert Operations in the 
  30. Reagan Era_; quite a few, surprisingly candid government officials,

  32. Martha Honey; the Christic Institute's Daniel Sheehan; etc.

  35. including of the La Penca bombing. The video starts with the "October
  36. Surprise" -- including displaying former Iranian president Bani Sadr's
  37. copies of U.S. sales of weapons to Iran in *1981* (the official,
  38. *post* Iran-Contra story still is that these sales began many years
  39. later); the "October Surprise," the title of Honegger's book, is what
  40. the Reagan/Bush campaign feared most in late 1980; that Carter might
  41. be able to get the hostages out before the elections and thus win...
  42. the evidence, increasingly strong, suggests that the Reagan/Bush
  43. campaign met Iranian officials in Paris in 1980 to avoid an "October
  44. Surprise," cutting a deal to delay the release of the American
  45. Hostages (by some 70 days) in return for the U.S. selling Iran
  46. advanced weapons. Various CIA officials and Iranians (including
  47. Bani-Sadr, now living in exile) have confirmed and produced much
  48. evidence to support this (see also Breneke below).

  50. The video continues to cover the CIA/contra role in drug-running; in
  51. the La-Penca bombing; Ollie/NSC's plans to suspend the Constitution,
  52. etc. Does not include more recent revelations: e.g., relating to the
  53. Breneke trial.

  55. nor does it includethe CIA's role in subverting the Costa-Rican
  56. investigation of La-Penca, or the fact that the Costa Rican
  57. legislature has since declared the former U.S. Ambassador, Ollie
  58. North, Robert Owen, and other Iran-Contra characters *persona non
  59. grata* in Costa Rica for their roles in the criminal activity; also
  60. John Hull, who worked with the CIA in the contra gun/drug running
  61. operations, has been indicted in Costa Rica for murder, and has since
  62. jumped bail and fled to the U.S. (Hull was named in the Christic
  63. Institute's 1986 suit on behalf of Avirgan for his role in the La
  64. Penca bombing.) The conclusions of the Costa-Rican Atty.  General's
  65. investigation of La Penca are nearly identical to those in the
  66. Avirgan/Honey suite brought forth by Christic in 1986.  [See CAIB #34
