  19. FILMGOERS SEEK TRUTH ON PANAMA

  25. Audiences have been raving about the film "The Panama Deception,"
  26. which began showing at the Village East Theater on the Lower West
  27. Side of Manhattan in New York City Oct. 22. The response has been
  28. so overwhelming that the original one week showing has been
  29. extended to Nov. 12.

  31. The film has had an impact on people's consciousness about the
  32. nature of the war. The film lays bare the lie that the war was
  33. fought to get rid of a dictator and stop the flow of drugs.
  34.  
  35. Outside the theater, the International Action Center, one of the
  36. organizations sponsoring the film, has a literature table. At the
  37. table, Rubin, one of the center's volunteers, told Workers World,
  38. "I have sold a lot of literature at the film showing. It has
  39. really had an impact on everyone who's seen it. No one will
  40. believe the government's lies after they've seen this."

  42. Other co-sponsors of the showing are former Panamanian diplomat
  43. Humberto Brown, Pacifica radio station WBAI-FM, and former
  44. Attorney General Ramsey Clark. It was produced by the Empowerment
  45. Project.

  47. One viewer who came out of the theater said, "I never knew that
  48. my country did all of this."
