- The U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO) released a report in June
- 1992 entitled, PESTICIDES: COMPARISON OF U.S. AND MEXICAN
- PESTICIDE STANDARDS AND ENFORCEMENT.
-
- The GAO prepared the study in anticipation of NAFTA and the
- "heightened concern that pesticide use may increase and residue levels
- on Mexican produce may exceed U.S. limits if growers attempt to
- maximize production with these opportunities for agricultural
- exports." For a copy of the report and the GAO's presentation of it
- before the House Agriculture Committee, call (202) 275-6241. The
- first copy is free. Additional copies are US$2 each.
