-
- Lowell,
-
- I do not recommend that you stick with only the K12 nets and the Phone line
- stuff. Ham Radio is not about convienience, nor is it about being able to
- get alot of data, it is about learning about Radio and sharing in a Brother
- hood of hams.
-
- I don't know if you have tuned into an HF Ham Radio Contact at all recently, but
- you will find a wide range of things being discussed.
-
- On the subject of Packet. It is the perfect place for young hams to learn about
- Ham Radio. It would also teach them about the other aspects of Packet and Ham
- Radio overall. There are also lots of other areas which I cannot even think of
- touching upon, such as tracking the low earth orbit satellite DO-17 and then
- using a regular police scanner to tune it in and listen to it speak to your
- students.
-
- So there are lots of possibilities for Packet.
-
- The Low Earth orbit satellites also send telemetry about themselves as data
- packets and your students can learn about and watch the systems on an actual
- spacecraft.
-
- Lots of toys.
-
- Regards
- Alan
