  25. Well lets see here... you're a 2nd Lieutenant, that'd probably mean
  26. you'd be about 22-25 years old, which would mean that you would have
  27. been a toddler during the last of the Vietnam conflict. Condemning Bill
  28. Clinton for something that happened 20+ years ago with out a clear
  29. understanding of the times and circumstances, which is most difficult to
  30. do this far removed, seems to me to be rather petty.

  32. I served in the Army during the Vietnam conflict (enlisted 1966,
  33. graduated Infantry OCS 1968, served 15 months in Vietnam). While I
  34. went to Vietnam with the opinion that what we were doing was right, it
  35. only took a couple of months "in country" for me to decide that; 1) we
  36. probably had no business there, 2) we certainly weren't prosecuting
  37. the war to win. Had I known in 1966 what I learned in 1969 I would
  38. have also found a way to "dodge the draft". I don't hold Bill
  39. Clinton's action against him, and really it is the Vietnam era
  40. veterans, and only them, that have earned that right.
