- Hi. A suggestion for gnutar: It should be possible to have an archive
- store uid's rather than user names without going into old archive
- format mode. A user may want to copy files to a system without a
- password file yet still gain the advantages provided by the new
- archive format. In fact, I need to do this very often because we do
- not use yp or keep password files on our NFS servers. The NFS servers
- do not need to know the usernames of the owners of files -- only the
- uid's. However, it often happens that I need to copy directories
- around on our NFS servers.
