  14.   I'm trying to build gcc 2.3.1 on VAX/VMS from scratch. The gcc-2.3.1.tar.Z
  15. file alludes to a "VMS kit" which is a backup saveset. I was unable to locate
  16. such a kit on prep.
  17.  
  18.   I have acquired bison and gas. However, I am unable to build gas as it wants
  19. to be built with gcc, and the gcc INSTALL document says I need a working gas
  20. in order to build gcc. Further, the gcc INSTALL document claims that I may have
  21. problems with gas 1.38.1 and implies I should have a newer one. However, 1.38.1
  22. is the latest (only) one I could find on prep.

  24.   So, my questions are:
  25.  
  26. 1) Where can I obtain the VMS kit alluded to in the gcc INSTALL document?
  27. 2) Is there a newer gas than 1.38.1?
  28. 3) Where can I obtain a pre-built VMS version of gas?
